The Gig: Somewhere in Kentucky

After growing up in Florida and living in the Midwest for a while, I thought I had mostly lost my Southern drawl. However, I realized as soon as I cross back into a Southern state, the accent came roaring back. Now that I live in Austin it’s worse.

I flew from South Dakota to Kentucky for a gig and as I walked off the plane and said thank you to the plane crew, I immediately sounded like my Grandma and said, “That wuz a nahce flite! Thank you, pilot!”

It was like all the work I had done to not sound like a hillbilly just left me completely and what came out sounded like I worked at a small engine repair shop and suffered from a bingo addiction.
